Christmas Crunch

I’m slamming, trying to get everything done.  I have 8 more of the blocks for Dad’s Celtic Dragon done (bringing me to half done), and I’ve printed the pattern.  I’ve decided to go buy a fusible pressing mat tomorrow-I think it’ll make the whole applique thing easier.  I’m also cranking out small things for the MANY girls in my life!!  And boys, too.  Here are the most adorable Patchwork Puppies, created using THIS tutorial.  4 boys, and one girl!

It is apparently Kid Tested, Mother Approved!!

And these are 2 sets for some special sisters.  Scarf, bag with smelly goodies, and a cell phone/camera case.

I’ve made a BUNCH of those camera/cell cases.  They are matches to the many bags that are leftover from the craft fair.  No pictures of those, since only the colors changed.

Here is a table runner

Oh–and here’s a bag that matches the girl scottie.  The recipient is a 1.5 year old.

I think I have some more things, but I guess I don’t have pictures yet.  Time to start wrapping all this stuff.  But FIRST, since PK is napping, back to the Celtic Dragon!

Rhapsody in Blue Butterflies

Happy 80th Birthday, to my paternal grandmother.  This is the first quilt I’ve made for her.  And I think it’s a doozy!!  And so does she.  She fell in love with the butterflies on my mom’s quilt several years ago.  So…….I made HER butterflies!  In her favorite color.  This quilt is a large twin, and I hope it keeps her warm in the Michigan Cold!

I’m pleased!!!

Mail Call!

I was soooooo excited yesterday that I ran to the mail truck WITH the baby!!  So I handed him over while I ran the box inside.  Don’t freak out—I know my MailLady very well.  One of the Country Life Bonuses.

Anyway, Connecting Threads had a huge sale Cyber Monday.  All precuts were 50% off. High Quality for less than $3 a yard???  Shoot Yeah!  I ended up with some interesting colors, just because I wanted to try new things out. And I bought 4 each of the Strips and layercakes.  To make sure I have enough.

Can’t go wrong with blue and yellow-This is Sunny Skies

New England

Warm FQ’s

Stripes and plaids FQ  (and we all know how much I love my stripes!!)

Cool Fat Quarters

Dusty Strips

And my first Cone.  I have to create a cone holder, though.  I saw one made from a computer CD thingy.  Might have to look that back up!

And the only OTHER bit of news is that I chopped my hair.  Yes, CHOPPED.  Babies. hormones, etc.  I usually hack it off about this time.  I wasn’t going to go quite so short, but this way it was long enough to donate.  I’m still happy, if a bit shocked that I did it!!  Hopefully, the Hubby won’t pass out!!  LOL

And now, since the youngest is snoozing, back to the sewing.  “Miles to go before I sleep” (R.Frost)

PS–I will be donating the 10 inch “rat” to Locks of Love.

Morning!

Well, Lots to say, yet nothing to say at all!  LOL  Quilty wise, Rhapsody in Blue Butterflies is on it’s way to Grandma.  It is slated to be there tomorrow.  Her Birthday is the 12th, and I can show the pictures then.  I’m VERY pleased with the way it turned out.

I’ve also started the blocks for the Celtic Dragon.  I have 8 of the 48 knot blocks done.  Here are the first 3.

It’ll be a very graphic, 3 color quilt.  Dad is blue/green colorblind, so the contrast will be easiest for him to see.  Red is the third color.  I’m sure I like what I bought, though.  I may end up shopping for a deeper, richer hue.  Not sure yet.

I also have a SLEW of homemade gifts to get hopping on.  Bags for younger ladies and girls, patchwork scottie dogs for the littlest ones, purse insert and table runners.  TOO darn much.  And less than 3 weeks till Christmas.  I have a feeling SOME of this won’t be done.  As long as dad’s Dragon is done, I’m good.

And since I must have a picture, here’s the 3.5 month old, SITTING.  Yeah–overacheiver.  But at 18 lbs, I think there’s too much lead in his butt to move.  Like a WeebleWobble.  He won’t fall down!!

Pay it Forward

Well, yesterday was Pay It Forward day.  I didn’t even leave the house!  AKKK, but an opportunity fell into my lap anyway.  There is a very young boy who has been very recently diagnosed with Leukemia.  Right in here in my town.  That is one of my biggest fears as a mother.  As soon as humanly possible, that little boy will have a warm, bright quilt to take with him to treatments.  If I design it like the Downy Quilts for Kids, it should be allowed in the hospital.

Poor little man.  And his family.  I feel so horrible for them.

On a happier note, Mr PK slept ALL night last night! I put him down at 9:30, and he is still snoozing at 7am!  What did I do??  I have NO idea.  I fed him cereal last night, but I’ve done that before.  And I went back to swaddling both arms (he threw a fit and punched me in the nose!).  Maybe that did it.  I dunno.  But I slept like a rock!  It was probably a fluke, but I’ll take it.  Any sleep is better than what I’ve been getting!

I hope to have the borders on Rhapsody in Blue done by tonight.  Maybe I’d better make the quilt label first, huh?  I hate handsewing those things!!
