First of all, the housekeeping. I’d like to remind you all that, while MY block for the Glorious Autumn Hop is done, there are MANY MANY more to go. Please go support the great designers! And the Whims and Fancies hop started already, even though I’m not showcased until the 24th of this month. So check out the paper pieced blocks offered. There will also be a SPECIAL block released HERE on Butterfly Angels on Halloween Day. My partner Dorothy Gautier and I are “Stitches and Kisses”!! We’ve been percolating an idea for years now. It’s time we brought it into the light!
Now, the skirts!!! I have a sweet friend who sells 31 purses. Charlene sells them HERE. She gave me an awesome purse, and in exchange, I made her some skirts! I made this one for me, first!!
Now, these are “dry” fit. I havn’t put the hooks on them yet. I just HAD to know if they all fit properly!!!
This one is for Char.
Yes, I realize the print is on it’s side. But that Eiffel tower would NEVER have fit otherwise!
And last?? Her favorite movie!
Isn’t he sinister looking???
I shaded the eyebrows just a tad to make him even more dimmensional.
Even the pinstripes (thanks Steam) were almost perfect!
I used the pattern and tutorial at 365 Days to Simplicity. She did an excellent job with step-by-step directions. If you have your own purse, it is a breeze to make your own skirt!
Now I’m off to hand stitch the little hooks on. AND, Jack needs a Santa hat. hmmm…….
peace and pieces,
Yes, folks, a new project!!! My friend Charlene is a 31 Consultant. (See her page HERE) 31 sells those amazing totes and purses. And other cute stuff. They also have a “Skirt Purse”. The idea is that you change the OUTSIDE of your purse.
But, well, the 31 skirts are kind of BORING to me!! LOL. Soooo…….
Now that is JUST the skirt itself. Inside the top edge will be hooks that attach to the purse. I can’t WAIT to get in my purse so I can fit test this and make a BUNCH more! Remember THIS post? Those are the Cotton Duck fabrics I bought for this project. And there are SOOOOO many options! Can you imagine rosettes, ruffles, BLING?! Oh Yeah–Gonna have some FUN with this one!
Thanks Charlene, for the opportunity!
peace and pieces,
This is my last post of 2011!! I hope to have many many many new posts in 2012!
I made quite a few gifts this year. I hope I took pictures of them all, but I’m not sure I did! Let’s see.
Gifts for my nieces in NC–One loves BLUE, so she got this.
Blue Windows for Amber
closeup of the orangepeel quilting
For the other NC niece, I went much more modern. I’m disgusted with the pictures. It rained ALL week, so I had to take indoor pictures.
Modern look for Bobbie
LOVED the backing
3 days before Christmas, Mike started saying that HE was getting a quilt for Christmas. CRAP. Walmart’s precut batik strips to the rescue!
Mike's Rock Candy Christmas
Gifts for the inlaws—
for Pop Pop
the yellow smudges are Phillip!
GiGi's placemats. Boys were crawfish..
..and the girls were crabs
waterbottle carrier for Tina
totebag for Tina
I did some goodies for Louetta–beautiful placemats–no pictures. I did a horsie set for Dinah–notebook, binder, and kleenex cover–no pictures. MOM didn’t get her stuff yet, so no pictures of that yet. I THINK that was all that I made for gifts this year.
Here is to many MANY more posts in 2012. Thank you to my loyal followers!! Keep posted–I want to get more traffic to my blog this year, so I’ll host a giveaway, have some free patterns, and a few other stuff. I am ALSO going to start charging taxes. This will be the first year I actually might be in the black, so I figure I’d better sign up with the state and be legal! Paperwork–YUCK! LOL so lots of changes on the way.
peace and pieces,
A friend started making the small lovies with ribbons sewn on to them. TOOO cute, and I’ve been thinking of making them myself for the next craft fair. I also presold a baby ball at the LAST craft fair. Hmmmm…..brain goes into overdrive!! SO, after making the bag and the ordered ball, I got to work.
Butterfly Bag (customized $20)
The honored recipient will receive a free “Butterfly Ball” to test out for me.
Butterfly Ball $10
And of course, PK got one, too!!!
PK and his Butterfly Ball, and Patchwork Puppy, too!
Butterfly Ball $10
The plain balls, Butterfly Balls, and Patchwork Pups will be available at the next craft fair in March. If you have any specific colors you WANT to see, please let me know. However, I can’t preorder right now. I have 3 quilts, plus the craft fair. If you don’t see what you want, I can special order after that. I hope to add “Butterfly Blankets” to the inventory list as well.
peace and pieces,
EDIT–After thinking I created something new, I see these all OVER Etsy shops. oops!!!! Oh well. I guess nothing is ever new, right? HAHA
I’m slamming, trying to get everything done. I have 8 more of the blocks for Dad’s Celtic Dragon done (bringing me to half done), and I’ve printed the pattern. I’ve decided to go buy a fusible pressing mat tomorrow-I think it’ll make the whole applique thing easier. I’m also cranking out small things for the MANY girls in my life!! And boys, too. Here are the most adorable Patchwork Puppies, created using THIS tutorial. 4 boys, and one girl!
It is apparently Kid Tested, Mother Approved!!
And these are 2 sets for some special sisters. Scarf, bag with smelly goodies, and a cell phone/camera case.
I’ve made a BUNCH of those camera/cell cases. They are matches to the many bags that are leftover from the craft fair. No pictures of those, since only the colors changed.
Here is a table runner
Oh–and here’s a bag that matches the girl scottie. The recipient is a 1.5 year old.
I think I have some more things, but I guess I don’t have pictures yet. Time to start wrapping all this stuff. But FIRST, since PK is napping, back to the Celtic Dragon!
Seriously, LOOK at the size of this bag??!!!
Large Hobo Bag $35
The colors are gorgeous, the bag is perfect. But it’s HUGE!! Oh well. If it doesn’t sell, it’ll be great for toting Show-N-Tell items to the guild meetings.
Yes, I said GUILD! I’m so very excited. I went last monday and had a blast. Hubby stayed home with all FOUR of the younguns and he survived with his sanity intact. I’m so proud of him! Because PK was NOT on his best behavior. I’m going back again next month. It was awesome!!
Still busting my butt sewing. Almost done with a froggy quilt order, made a few more ID cases, a few more cell cases, and a few ornaments. Oh and Mug Rugs!! SOO cute. I’ll highlight those maybe tomorrow.
For now, it’s time to grab my babies off the school bus!
I stumbled across this gorgeous fabric and it just looked like Lemonades to me!! I managed to “squeeze” 2 bags, 2 ID cases, 2 cell pouches and a journal. I had a 2nd journal–I miscut and it won’t fit. I’m NOT happy with myself!!! What a waste.
And a quilty buddy found a pillow/bag monster pattern on Modas Bake Shop website. I took a peek at it, and changed it. Of course!! I have no use for a pillow, or a bag. But a smaller version, made with felt, and weighted with beans–well, now THAT is a conversation starter! I’m going to make a few smaller ones, too. Toys, or even pincushions!! With some more tweaking, I can see a lion, a pig, a tiger, etc. Something to keep in mind for March’s fair!!
One thing is for sure–He is too cute to be scary!!!
Today will be just as busy as the last few have been! Yikes! And i REALLY need to mop the kitchen floor. Anyone wanna volunteer for that??? LOL
Yesterday I had to go to town for Guinea Pig food. While I was there, I stumbled across some BRIGHT summery fabric. I couldn’t resist!! I’m making a “set” with it. 2 bags, 2 ID cases, then I’ll make a wristlet and a journal cover. I’m almost done with the bags. Also yesterday, the custom journals were picked up. the client seemed very pleased, so I am too! The end of this week will be the LAST of teh bags, I think. I’ll need the rest of the time to get the Christmas themed stuff done. These are the 2 I completed yesterday.
Now the last thing i need is to get bit by another idea. Unfourtunately, that has happened. A friend posted the pattern for this little dude!! He’s created by Moda and the free pattern can be reached by clicking on him.
Isn’t he ADORABLE?? Darn.
And I still have to finish the girls’ costumes. YIKES!!!!
I promised some pictures of my birds. It’s super windy today, so I think my flock was trying to take flight!! There are no 2 alike!! 12 birds, and 12 pears. All in a different color combination. My husband thinks they look too “old fashioned” to sell. And he may be right! But they’d be cute on MY tree!! Or even added as gift tags!
AND I was experimenting with inner pockets on these drawstring bags. I was gifted this fabric a LONG time ago, by a sweet quilty friend. I finally got around to use it. Pics of the pockets didn’t come out too good, but I LOVE MY NEW PURSE!!
OH and I forgot my black and gold bags, and wheelchair tote! As well as a bunch more journals. These were special ordered.
Needless to say, I feel like my daughter!
I’m getting a LOT of requests for Black and Pink combos. I managed to get these 3 done completely tonight.
I promised some pics of the tiger bags! Here are the ones that are for sale. Of course there is a nod to our fav LA college!!
And this EXTRA bag is NOT for sale. It is Wren’s! Even though I’m not allowed to sell licensed fabrics, I can still show it off! This and a journal will be part of her christmas present.
Here are the Tiger covers while still flat. and unsewn. I hope to finish them tomorrow. Once again, the LSU is for Wren.
off to bed. Ya’ll have a great night!
