May Showers—FREE Block of the Month SunBonnet Sue

Welcome back, ya’ll!!    The end of the school year is RIGHT around the corner here in SWLA.  We have had a lot of activity with last minute field trips, awards ceremonies, and (gasp) a graduation.  Yes, my 3rd baby is headed to kindergarten next year.  sighIMG_7280-001

SO I’m sorry this post is a tad late.   Dot is just as busy, but she still managed to squeak out the sample block for us.  THANK YOU DOT!   And as always, the cutest darn applique embellishments!  The flower stems are intended to be embroidered.   The 2nd applique is a basket with a butterfly, requiring NO embroidery.  Take your pick!!!may photo2

Anyway, on to the pattern!   As usual, it is guaranteed to be free only until the end of the month, even though I often forget to remove the pattern link!   All other patterns are available in the Etsy store.   Download the pattern here——>May Showers

If you sew up one of these darlings, please share on the Flicker page.

Off to work on that stack of 9-patches.   ALMOST done!!

peace and pieces,
amy

Birds On a Wire

OK, let’s try this again!   Welcome to Butterfly Angels Quilting.  I am here for my turn with Whims and Fancies.  This theme is Spring.  Every spring, HORDES of black birds come through   Loud and obnoxious, they make their presence known.  Here is a cell picture when they were just starting to come through.

So my block depicts this.  Unfortunately, it also shows a buttload of flaws.  The flipped piece of blue, the messed up seams.  Please forgive them.  I can’t go into detail, but my mind was in a few other places, and there was NO time to resew it.  IMG_6150

I love my black birds, wonky and all.  And I hope you do too.  Now, PLEASE come back on the 25th.  My amazing partner will offer her first ever solo paper piece block.  And don’t forget to go check the rest of the bloghop.  There are some AMAZING blocks there!

Sun Bonnet New Sue

IMG_0350YAY!   Here is your pattern!!   This is a Stitches and Kisses pattern, created by   Dorothy Gauthier and myself.   In general, I do the rough paper piece pattern.   Then she tweaks it and draws the applique.  We make a pretty good team!!

The pattern will have 2 options.   Shown here in our sample is the New Year Ball Dropping.  There is also a clock option, with an embroidered face.  IMG_0352

Because my Gal adores me, she made this for ME, with my Saints colors and fleur de lis.   The fleur is NOT part of the official pattern, but I’m sure you can figure it out on your own!IMG_0349

I am trying to figure out how we can keep track of how many times our file has been downloaded.   I was going to use paypal, but many of you have asked me to reconsider.  For this month, until I can figure something else out, I’m going to ask that you PLEASE leave a comment at the bottom of this post if you download the pattern.

Remember–this is only free until February first.  EDIT: Sue is now available in the Etsy Store.  So download now; tell  your friends; pin it,; etc.  And thanks for joining Stitches and Kisses on our new path!

peace and pieces,
amy and dorothy
